Jessica: The autobiography of an infant by Jeffrey Von Glahn, Ph. D.
Get to know the writer:
What is your story about?
My client in her therapy re-experienced many psychologically dramatic
events from the earliest days of her life, and with her adult mind
described her experience at the time in words. It’s just like
listening to an infant who could talk describe every psychologically
dramatic moment of its life as it was happening.
Why should people know this story?
Prior to this book, infants did not have a voice or a spokesperson for
their experiencing. The life of an infant is far more exciting than you
can possibly imagine.
This story has a lot going for it. How would you describe this story in two words?
Absolutely spell-binding
What movie have you seen the most in your life?
Lawrence of Arabia
How long have you been working on this story?
It took me twenty years to write it.
How many stories have you written?
This one.
What motivated you to write this story?
HAD TOO. Besides the uniqueness of Jessica’s experience, I heard and
watched it all. No one else has that experience.
Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?
Being a psychotherapist, and hopefully one day living in a society that
has as its mission statement the well-being of all of its citizens.
Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?
Writing well is a learned skill, and just like any other skill it takes
constant practice to get better. The key to betting better is to
practice the weakest aspects of your writing. Hint: Study the writing of
an author that inspires/engages you. See if you can figure out how
it’s different from your writing.
